Description of the plant:
Dracaena is an evergreen, rather slender tree with a lignified trunk. Like palm trees, the trunk of the dracaena is straight and of equal thickness. The leaves are pointed at the ends, long and rather narrow, with parallel veins, converging towards the end of the leaf. By their appearance, most of the plants of this family are very similar to a palm tree, but they have nothing to do with real palms.
Temperature: The temperature in summer is at the level of 20-25 ° С (depending on the specific type of plants), in winter it is not lower than 12-15 ° С. Dracaena do not tolerate temperature fluctuations well and are sensitive to temperature changes.
Lighting: Dracaena are shade-tolerant, but variegated forms need a lot of light for normal development, otherwise their color will gradually fade. However, dracaena does not tolerate direct sunlight, especially when it comes to bordered dracaena. With constant exposure to direct sunlight, the leaves can quickly lose their color or simply burn out.
Fertilization: Dracaena should be fertilized carefully, every two weeks, from April to November.
Air humidity: Dracaena require regular spraying of the leaves. To wash off the dust and refresh the plant, it is worthwhile to periodically arrange a warm shower for the plant.
Plant transplant: The newly purchased plant is transferred from the transplant tank to a permanent pot after 2 weeks. Adult plants need replanting every 2-3 years in spring, while young plants should be replanted annually.
Reproduction: Propagate the dracaena by pieces of the stem or by apical cuttings, which are rooted at a temperature of 25 ° C in the soil under the film.
Height: up to 30 cm.
